Interiors

"Designing is not a profession but an attitude. Design has many connotations. It is the organization of materials and processes in the most productive way, in a harmonious balance of all elements necessary for a certain function. It is the integration of technological, social, and economical requirements, biological necessities, and the psychological effects of materials, shape, color, volume and space. Thinking in relationships."

Shelterhouse: Teen Room

The local women shelterhouse needed to transform their basement into a space suitable for teenagers. They wanted the space to be a place where adolescents relax and find refuge.

The design is inspired by retro video games such as tetris, pacman, and tron.

I designed and help construct the Tetris entertainment center. The unit can be assembled into several different combinations.

Shelterhouse's resident psychologist is quoted saying, "It's such a peaceful and quiet distraction for older youth who need a place to be while in shelter. The creation of the teen room has certainly made a huge impact on how we help teens transition into a challenging living environment.

Vernacular Village

The village is intended to develop an environment for design student for year-round living. The spatial construction of the unit is governed by the Golden Section proportioning system, utilizing the Fibonacci series of whole numbers.

The design involves the use of large windows for capturing the environmental views. The space uses the contrast of layering to separate different spaces.
